When I first met Maria a year ago I had just had my first baby girl. With that blessing came sleep deprivation and a spare tire around my waistline, to say the least. I was insecure with a closet full of beautiful clothes that were simply collecting dust and it was a silly dream to think that I would ever fit into them again. Through books and magazines I trained for a half marathon and crossed the finish line and although I shed a few pounds along the way I still didn't look or feel like the person under the "curvy" figure I was trapped in. I was tired of people saying "oh don't beat yourself up, you just had a baby" or my favorite, "your middle eastern and have the child bearing hips".  Through my mind raced pictures or Jessica Alba, Heidi Klum and many other celebrities who looked smokin' hot after weeks of delivery and I thought, "what's my excuse?". The truth was I didn't know how to eat. It was as simple as that. Food was my enemy because I didn't know how to find the right formula for my body type and lifestyle. Someone introduced me to "Maria the dietitian" and I asked her "can you really make me skinny again?". She promised and did not fail me. It took about 2 months to get me to my goal weight and now I am even smaller than that. I went to Maria at 140 pounds wearing a size 8/9 and right now I write this sitting in my size 4 jeans and weighing 122 with a little over 18% body fat (can I boast that I ran an 8 minute mile last night thanks to her too?). Never in my wildest dreams would I ever have thought people would ask me "what's your secret" or say things like "you can afford it because you are naturally skinny". Haha! My recipe for sucess was simple: a pinch of dilligence, a spoonfull of commitment and a heaping cup of Maria. Her formula is personalized to each person and she holds your hand through to the end. Maria is the real deal. She is the "get my butt in shape so I can look sexy in my skinny jeans" dietitian.  
PS. I had to go shopping because all my clothes are too big on me now!! Now that's the complain I was looking for.

I live a pretty fast paced and busy lifestyle and I thought that I would never be able to have a healthy diet.  Maria knew that I had a very busy lifestyle and that it would be difficult for me to prepare meals because of time restraints.  She guided me in selecting healthier foods that required little to no preparation.  She has some great brochures (Trader Joe's, Whole Food's and Safeway), filled with good and healthy foods, that have helped tremendously when I am shopping at the Supermarket.  Ever since I first started seeing her my diet has been a lot healthier and my body fat has dropped.  She is very knowledgeable about nutrition but she also has great fitness tips.  Make sure you ask her about her "30 Minutes of Hell" running interval! ~Juan


With 2 pregnancies, I put on 65 and 50 pounds respectively.  Well after my pregnancies, I found that I was still 20-30 lbs overweight and could not manage to get my body back into the shape that it had been before.  Working out alone was not yielding much benefit overall.  My weight was fluctuating up and down.  I was referred to Maria by a friend and with her help she showed me how to improve my diet so that I could lose the weight and keep it off.  So far I've lost 20 lbs and feel great.  The knowledge she gave me on how to eat right was easy to follow and never left me feeling deprived or hungry.  Her recipes are fantastic. I had the fortune of meeting Maria in April 2008.  To most people I was considered a big guy who worked out six days a week, so it was easy for me and others to make excuses for me being over weight.  After years of doing diets like body for life, atkins and various forms of the south beach diet I found success, but I lacked the longevity of living with a manageable healthy diet, as my weight would be back up a few months after I reached a goal weight. 

The process with Maria was straightforward and easy to follow.  It required me to take an honest look at what I was doing and she provided the data and the tools for me to hit my goal.  She is a great motivator and tailored meal plans around my work and personal lifestyle. 

While the system wasn’t easy at first, I found that in about three weeks I started seeing and feeling results.  My weight was down and my energy was up.  In Eight weeks I lost 20 lbs of which 18 lbs was fat.  Since then I have lost another 5 lbs and have maintained my weight while keeping an active social life.

Maria's guidance and coaching were instrumental in helping me reach and maintain my goal weight; following Maria's program, I lost 32 pounds while maintaining a healthy, balanced diet. 

Through Maria's coaching, I gained a greater appreciation for the various classifications of foods and the importance of portion size, timing of meals, and the proper combination of foods within a meal.

I spent 6 months trying to lose weight with my trainer by increasing exercise.That helped but it was limited and he suggested I try Maria Fregoso. In combination with my exercise, soon I lost 50lb's! I felt as a 50 year old man and that it would tough but Maria made it easy.She found foods that I could prepare and foods that helped me stick to the plan.Some time an old dog can learn new tricks and this one certainly did. My Doctor was very pleased at my resting heart rate of 54 and asked for her number. My cholesterol  came down to the 140's and waist size dropped to 33". Working with Maria has changed my life. Six years ago my weight went up very quickly because I was eating poorly and not exercising. I felt miserable with myself and realized that that if I kept gaining weight I would be so unhealthy it would be hard to turn things around. I decided to start doing water aerobics and really enjoyed it! I found that when I excercised I craved healthy foods. By increasing my exercise and making healthier food choices I had lost 20 pounds within 2 years. I also decided to write in a food journal and within 6 months I have lost 23 pounds! I plan to do a food journal for the rest of my life.

A huge part of my success is my best friend Maria. She is always there to encourage me and tell me how great I am. She sets a good example for me with her healthy food choices and she is always available if I have questions. As Maria's best friend I see how much she truly cares about each and every client and how proud she is of them. She is very giving of her time.

I did my first triathalon at the age of 41 and she was so proud of me! When I had a foot problem she agreed to do a relay triathalon with me where I swam and she did the bike and run. This allowed me to do the Alcatraz swim which was a life changing event. It has become a metaphor for life. When difficult things happen in my life I move forward, do not look back, do my best and the reward is the finish line. I have become a much stronger person, and Maria has been there for me encouraging me to take "baby steps."

Six years ago I was a size 18 and weighed 200 pounds. Today I weigh 149 and I just bought size 6 pants and a size 4 skirt. I am a new person, thanks to Maria. She will change your life, she changed mine. ~Annette
